In times of crisis, we are getting overwhelmed by the accumulation of negative emotions. These negative emotions, more often than not lead us to have negative experiences. They impact our daily life, disrupt our inner peace and affect our relationship with others. In times of crisis, we need others the most. It is hard to be productive though when our world is scattered, isn’t it? Not all is lost though and the little creator inside each one of us knows when it is time to act.

What can we do when our inner peace is lost?

Create it.

Above all, the artist is a Creator, who manifests ideas into material forms. Through their creations creators are trying to transfer messages and spread beauty to the world. When the world needs those messages and beauty in difficult times, it is as a fact quite inspiring by itself for the artist to create something despite the struggles that are going on.

The challenge to process our own negative emotions is quite inspiring as well. When we are locked inside, emotionally or literally (well, quarantine sucks right!) we have to face ourselves and our demons, deal with our mental issues. Each one of us. After all, escapism is a tempting solution when things get tough. What will come out of it and what it will speak to other people is the creative aftermath of the story.

Process your negative emotions. There is a common thing with art-making: it’s a hard but beautiful process.

  •  Accept them. There’s nothing wrong to be found out of your depth, everyone is. We are equal.
  • Think what your emotions are, and relax inside the thought. Find out what triggers them.
  •  Understand that it’s not only other people’s fault. Understand it’s not only your fault either.
  • Learn to live with them. There’s no need to constantly live in a battle of fighting against negative emotions. They are not your real enemy.

After you relax and take a breath, you will realize that most of the worldly known artworks where depicting times of grave suffering or history-changing events. Humans have the possibility to use their mind in a creative way, turning the negative into positive. Taking something and putting it into a different form, you choose which one it will be.
